Season Colours

We can enjoy these colours before autumn full colours of leaves.

Beloved PORCINI, especially by Italians, are those with the brown hats and thick feets. I need to go a couple of steps from our summer cottage`s door and pick them up right to the frying pan.

Italians get them after somebody has picked them here and put them to the big semi-trailers and driven them to Italy all the way through Europe.
And you can believe, every day those trailers leave Joensuu for Italy full of porcini or boletus :)

Most Finns prefer Cantharelli, those yellow ones below in the right corner.

Hi leena fantastic group of photo again with picasa 3 i take it? Looked up Joensuu last night on Google Earth and found it it seems quite close to Russia. I also found Lake Paijanne. Is this the lake that you talk about?

Yes, Debbie, from our summer cottage to Russian border is about 60km :) But this border is closed, even going near the border demands a special permission. There are few official places for going over and the train is going to Moscow from Helsinki.
I have been in Saint Petersburg two times in my life for seeing all those historical buildings there and collections of Hermitage Museum.

Most of my photos are from lakes near Joensuu, but I have also photos of the lakes near Lahti and Päijänne. You can see more things from Finland HERE

I love mushrooms; great photos. Imagine your area being so bountiful that they are trucked all the way to Italy! Finnish-Italian cuisine . . .

Lovely photgraphs of these Mushrooms - well put together. I would be amazed to see those amounts of mushrooms being transported. I do like mushrooms but mine are usually the common variety!!

@Jeff: You made me laugh with your bacon, you English man!
My son was in Scotland with his family last June and his daughters ( 11 and 9 years )
told me, that can you believe us granny, they put bacon to everything even to hamburgers :)
When I said to my husband, that you are going to do mushrooms with bacon, he said sounds good,
I want too !!

@mariar: On se kmmaa tämän bloggaamisen kanssa, että sitä vaan sitten alkaa ikävöidä !
Niitä ihmisiä sieltä blogien takaa sitä varmaan kaipailee, vaikka kuinka olisi eläviäkin ympärillä.
Ehkä se kuitenkin tuo jotain laajempaa ympyrää ja siten erilaista ja virkistävää sisältöä jokapäiväisiin
ympyröihin.
