Not only squirrels !

Posted by Leena (Joensuu, Finland) on 5 November 2008 in Animal & Insect.

But also magpies try to get easy food!

I am apologizing for a blurriness of photos, but I took them through three glasses of our window ( We need three glasses to keep frost outside :)

A magpie is very good to realize moving and it took only seconds, when he grabbed a piece of peanut.

A squirrel did not like that and he was chasing this magpie.
It was happening such a drama on our backyard and small birds were watching on the branches of birches !

Thank you very much for your visits and comments !

Many kinds of birds manage to live well together, but not all! Squirrels may be another story?

I trust it's warm and nice behind your triple windows!

Many, many magpies here too. They are elegant with their black and white suit but I've been told they eat the eggs in the nests of other birds...Do you think it's true?

I love this photo, Leena! Not to worry about any blurriness - I like sometimes when the motion is too quick for the lens. As for the results of the election... I am thrilled beyond all expectations, was overwhelmed last night and, like Oprah and Jesse Jackson, cried tears of joy and relief. Thanks for checking in!

Hi Leena! I haven't seen magpies in Canada, but I saw many of them in England this summer! I love your pictures.
Thank you for your birthday wishes, yes, I had a lovely birthday and on such a momentous day! In fact a day that has changed the world.
we stayed up till 1am watching the US election results last night (with the rest of the world), and I'm pretty happy about the way things turned out. The future has suddenly got a little brighter. It was very interesting being here in Florida on election day, specially as Florida was one of the pivotal states.
Finally America has someone with a bit of common sense in charge!

Super capture of this magpie. What a cheeky fellow he is. In spite of going through 3 glass panes you have excellent quality here. Well done.

Alice, you are right. They do that as well squirrels and crows too.
That`s the way in a nature and as a result should be some kind of a balance,
if we, human beings do not mess up there.

Great photos. I like to listen to the magpies, unfortunately not where I currently live. Can you hear them through three panes of glass? Stay warm.
