3.35pm - during the sunset !

Posted by Leena (Joensuu, Finland) on 6 November 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Not only birds and squirrels, but we can see also the sky - yes, mostly through branches of birches and it was yesterday 3.35 pm like this.
And then start a long, dark evening also for animals outside!

Sun rises 7:51 and sets 15:37. Length of day is 7 h 46 min

Thank you very much for your visits and comments !

Ruth from United States

Such very beautiful colors, and the twigs are soft and ethereal. The composition is perfect, as yours always are. Stay happy and light, even when there is so much darkness!

6 Nov 2008 12:19pm

@Ruth: Thank you, Ruth!
I am not suffering about Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression or winter blues,
but many are.
I feel more safe and peaceful during dark, it`s foolish, I know, but so it is with me :)
Don`t worry !

Ruth from United States

Oh, I like the frame very much too.

Beautifulsunset.
You can't have both, midnight sun in summer and long daylight in autumn or winter.

6 Nov 2008 12:50pm

@deslilas: :)
You are so right! It could be too much :)

MaryP from Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom

Lovely image and a very clever and unusual frame. Love it. At the moment, here in Aberdeenshire, we have had, up to now, 4 days of total 'greyness' and very fine 'drizzle'. Really miserable weather.

@MaryP: Mary, thank you!
I have been playing with Photoscape lately :)
This frame is "Landscape " from that software ( free ).

I love the picture of the sky even though it is getting dusk its beautiful. Last weekend our time moved back an hour so hence it gets dark an hour earlier but the mornings are lighter earlier. It is dark by 5:30 now and although it'll continue getting darker until Christmas it doesn't get dark at the time yours is right now. Dark evenings seem to end when it does get dark...summer sunlight makes the evenings soooo nice and long. Well you are lucky you make up for it in the summer time! We had difficulty getting used to that when we were in Finland. We had to put up something on the windows...but it was great when you had to go out someplace in the eveing/night though.
Have a great day.

For those of us living in the mid-latitudes, it's hard to imagine the sun setting so early in the afternoon, or such a short day so early in the fall. Beautiful colors in those clouds, probably very different that what the sky looked like in the direction of the setting sun. Thanks for sharing, Leena! Your pictures and perspective are always a pleasure.

I love the warm rosy colored clouds and the birch twigs. A great composition and the frame around the shot really sets it off.
Certainly is a long night. It would be hard for me to get used to it. I'm glad you don't struggle with SAD. Maybe I would.
