Good Monday morning - a little cold, isn`t it !

Posted by Leena (Joensuu, Finland) on 24 November 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

But also this small Common Redpoll ( Carduelis flammea )
manages through our winter - or most of them anyway.

We got here over 10 centimeters new, nice snow, which is like a absorbent cotton everywhere. When a temperature is in minus degrees, it stay like this.

Sun rises 8:43 and sets 14:52. Length of day is 6 h 9 min.

Thank you very much for your visits and comments !

I haven't seen or heard of a redpoll. It's a little like our housefinch.

I wrote this comment reply to you at sync:

You know, Leena, I just thought of Carl Larsson from your neck of the woods, first time I've thought of him for a while. I think my header was also influenced by his illustrations, especially of his children. I adore his home and illustrations.

And I think you and I have also talked of Eliel Saarinen who designed our private school Cranbrook here in Michigan. I do love that Northern, simple style. And Grandma Olive too was Swedish. Hmm, I hadn't thought about any of this till just now.

See how nice your visits are?

Precious! Wonderful composition to this photo, with the blue gray and white speckled snow divided by a diagonal. And the blue gray is echoed again in the little bird's shadow.

Cool shot !! the squirrel with great tit behind it too ! Even over here we have had snow, of course it melted again (and leaks through the roof, oh bah). P.S. I know Ruth already quite some time, it's nice to have blogfriends in common.
