Wealthy enough ! / Shanghai, China

Posted by Leena (Joensuu, Finland) on 5 July 2009 in Cityscape & Urban.

Did you see before the Olympic games of last summer a story about wealthy women in Shanghai, who walked dressed in pyjamas in streets? It was said, that during the games it is not so good, because the foreigners will not understand that.
I saw only this one woman using a white, tricot pyjamas. Can you see her in the middle of the photo? It seems to me, that she is using some kind of slippers too - easy and comfortable :)

Thank you very much for your visits and comments !

I hadn't heard about the women in Shanghai walking in pajamas, but you're right, this woman's white outfit could be just that. She does look comfortable. :D

I would love to wear my pyjamas in the street. So far, the furthest I have been outside in my pyjamas is to pick up the newspaper on the front steps of my house!

I hadn't heard about the pajamas either but perhaps wealth allows one to do as one pleases. Her outfit doesn't look too bad and slippers could be the most comfortable way to shop...

From her outfit....I see nothing that might attack the eyes around. After all they are known for using some such kind of outfits, it's part of their daily lives. I prefer it to the way most young women dress here in Japan, so ready to show everything, even those things that common sense would call defects. This is a normal looking crowd in the streets of Shanghai.
